After meeting with Estelle Hudson, a Jungian dream analyst (and psychologist),  we agreed to work on two collaborative books together.  Hudson wanted to use little works which were made in  the eleven years she had attended gone to Jeannette Gilks’ art  classes with the Garret Artists group. When Hudson gave me her images in the middle of October, I was unsure how to proceed as they were completely different to the way I work ;  the word I would use to describe her work is genteel.  I knew my usual way of working would completely overpower the subtlety of the images Hudson had given me.

So I worked ‘quietly’,  which was difficult for me, combing a dictionary, collage, small paintings and drawings in response to one of the words she had used in her drawings.  As there was no theme to this set of drawings I suggested Hudson used the back of the pages to find some sort of narrative.  She did this by filling in the squares made by the stitching.  This helped, but the left hand pages remained empty.  This was alleviated by the introduction of further small paintings, or collage, which had reference to the right hand page.
